Whether you're a complete beginner, an experienced player looking to develop your technique, or a musician preparing for a performance or recording, I offer one-to-one tuition tailored to your goals.
I'm a professional bassist, musician, transcriber and educator, and Head of Bass at WaterBear College of Music. I've worked with and learned from some of the finest musicians in the business, and I bring that professional experience into every lesson.
The aim is simple: to give you the knowledge and skills to become a better, more independent musician.
What I Teach
Bass
From getting started on the instrument to advanced technique, groove, improvisation and playing in different musical styles. Lessons are tailored to your level and the music you want to play.
Music Theory
Understand the theory behind the music you're playing, from the fundamentals through to harmony, scales, chords and more advanced musical concepts.
Guitar
Develop your technique, learn songs, understand chords and harmony, and become a more confident and versatile player.
Transcription
Learn how to work out music by ear and turn what you hear into accurate notation. This is particularly useful for musicians who want to develop their ears, learn songs independently or improve their understanding of how music works.
My Approach
Every student is different, so I don't follow a rigid lesson plan.
We'll focus on what you want to achieve, whether that's learning specific songs, improving your technique, preparing for an audition or performance, understanding music theory, developing your ear or simply becoming a better musician.
Lessons are practical, musical and focused on helping you make measurable progress while enjoying the process.
One-to-one online tuition
Lessons take place online, making it possible to study from wherever you are.
Online lessons are ideal for regular tuition and can also be arranged as one-off sessions when you need help with a particular technique, song, theory topic or musical challenge.
